Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this online forensic biology game challenges high school students to solve real-world cases using DNA analysis. The game employs custom Flash-VR technology and supports an unlimited number of unique cases for students to solve.
Designed to be completed within one class period, each case involves collecting and examining evidence and making conclusions about findings, all within a 360° virtual lab environment. Customized expert advisors are built into each case to guide students through the critical processes of sample preparation and genetic analysis. Students must also support their conclusions with relevant evidence. This web-delivered experience is designed to supplement high school biology and to attract students to a possible career within the forensic sciences. Red Hill received nearly $900K in grants from the National Institutes of Health to produce this product, which is still being used in science classrooms throughout the country.
