This documentary tells the stories of two pairs of scientists that radically changed our view of biology and biotechnology. Through intimate interviews with Jim Watson and Francis Crick, Part One of the program reveals the intuitive flashes of brilliance that led this team to discover the structure of DNA ahead of more established competitors. Part Two tells the story of how an unlikely pair of researchers, Stanley Cohen of Stanford and Herb Cohen of UCSF, invented genetic engineering and launched the field of biotechnology.
Creative Director Robert Hone was the Producer, Director, and Writer of the educational program. The documentary was part of the Winding Your Way Through DNA Series produced by UCSF with funding from the NIH. Winner of the Ciné Golden Eagle.
